28 teen girls from the PACE Center for Girls of Collier County and New Horizons of Southwest Florida caught and released over 100 fish during the 2nd annual Freedom Waters Foundation Heels & Reels Girls Fishing Tournament. The tournament took place on Saturday, October 12th, from 8 AM through 2 PM at the Naples Boat Club docks at 909 10th Street South.

mangrove snapperEach teen participant was teamed up with an experienced female angler and volunteer boat captain who offered mentoring and education while on the water. Species caught included snook, cobia, mangrove snapper, ladyfish, grouper and sheepshead. Awards were presented to the teen girls who reeled in the smallest fish, most fish, biggest fish and most unusual catch.

South Bend Sporting Goods donated Bright PinkĀ® rod and reel combos for each of the teens to take home and use following the event.
