Capt. Morris Campbell is an accomplished Florida fishing guide and one of Fishidy’s top users. He’s known for putting his clients on monster fish from saltwater to freshwater. We decided to ask the Fishidy legend a few questions to learn more about the man behind the myth.
Q: If you could be fishing anywhere in the world right now, where would it be, and why?
A: Summer: Thompson Falls, Mt. fly fishing for trout. Winter: Here in Florida fishing for giant Largemouth Bass.
Q: What’s a fishing-related memory that you cherish most?
A: Bass fishing with my Dad.
Q: What are some misconceptions about being a fishing captain/guide?
A: That all we do is fish! We are mechanics, hosts, cleaning crew, meteorologists, sometimes psychiatrists 😂, most folks don’t have any idea how much preparation and maintenance we do.
Q: What movie can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of?
A: Groundhog Day of course!!!! Hahaha
Q: What food do you crave most often?
A: Seafood!!
Q: Do you think that aliens exist?
A: Without a doubt, I have fished with some before😂😂😂!
Q: What outdoor activity haven’t you tried, but would like to?
A: Musky fishing. I haven’t fished for them so that would be one of a few bucket list species for me.
Q: Which 3 things are you taking with you on a deserted island?
A: A boat, fishing tackle and beautiful company 😎.
Q: Who is your favorite band or musical artist?
A: I love almost all music. I tend to lean toward great guitarist, having played professionally as well as doing a lot of studio work in the past.
Q: If you were a fish, which one would you be, and why?
A: Largemouth Bass.
