The Versatility of Castration Bands
There is no match in versatility in my home preparation kit other than the castrating band. Found in any five and dime hardware store, the small bands serve as reel holders and wacky rig worm protectors. Simply slide the band onto a funnel and insert the end of the worm (or rod end) into the funnel and slide it into position. For reels, I use four bands – two for the top, and two for the bottom of the reel seat. I typically rig my wacky worms at home, but I carry a few bands with an empty pen cap in my tackle box just in case.
